            What is MALLAKHAMB Mallakamba (Kannada: ಮಲ್ಲ ಕಂಬ malla-kamba, Marathi: मल्लखांब malla-khamba, Tamil: மல்லர் கம்பம் mallar-kambam) is a traditional Indian sport in which a gymnast performs aerial yoga postures and wrestling grips in concert with a vertical stationary or hanging wooden pole, cane or hanging rope. The word mallakhamba also refers to the pole used in the sport.[1][2] The pole mallakhamba is usually made from the Seesham (Indian Rosewood) polished with castor oil.[3] Three popular version of mallakhamba are practiced using the sheesham pole, cane or a rope.[4] Mallakhamba derives from the terms malla/mallar which denotes a wrestler and khamba/kambam which means a pole.   महाकाल की नगरी में मल्‍लखंब मध्य प्रदेश की सांस्कृतिक नगरी, जहां भूतभावन महाकाल विराजे हैं, मल्लखंब कला प्रदर्शन को लेकर चर्चाओं में है. सोनी और कलर्स चैनल पर होने वाले टैलेंट शो के अंतर्गत यहां के खिलाड़ियों ने विश्व भर में इस खेल को नए आयाम दिए हैं. इसके चलते अब उज्जैन में मल्लखंब खेल अकादमी की स्थापना का निर्णय भी राज्य शासन ले चुका है. आज यह खेल कौशल किसी भी खेल की बुनियादी आवश्यकता के रूप में जगह बनाने लगा है. मल्लखंब खेल से शरीर इतना लचीला हो जाता है कि खिलाड़ी किसी भी खेल में स्वयं को दक्ष पाता है. मल्लखंब को संरक्षित करके प्रशासन ने सदियों पुरानी इस विधा को पुनर्जीवित करने का काम किया है. इस समय भारत के 29 राज्यों में मल्लखंब की पंजीकृत एसोसिएशन हैं, लेकिन प्रदेश के अलावा अन्य किसी राज्य ने इस खेल को संरक्षण प्रदान नहीं किया है. मल्लखंब पर खिलाड़ियों द्वारा योगासन, जिम्नास्टिक और एक्रोबेटिक व्यायामों का प्रदर्शन किया जाता है. भारतीय मल्लखंब महासंघ की तकनीकी समिति के मानक की बात की जाए तो साधकों को मल्लखंब पर केवल 90 सेकेंड में अपना सर्वश्रेष्ठ प्रदर्शन करना होता है....
